Research shows that children learn better when their parents are involved. We are joint partners with parents in the education of children and, as such, we make every effort to provide opportunities for you to be involved in the activities of the group and your own child's progress. Parental involvement is sought in a number of ways:
You are welcome to stay and play with your child for all or part of a session whenever you wish. This is a lovely way to develop your understanding of what your child does at pre-school and become more involved in your child’s learning.
You may bring younger children with you on the understanding that they remain your responsibility at all times.
Our pre-school is run by a committee of elected parents. A committee of at least five parents is essential for the pre-school to remain open. The Committee, in conversation with the Manager, make the major decisions about the running of the ore-school, maintain our premises and raise additional funds for the pre-school. All parents are encouraged to join the Committee. For more information, please speak to our Manager or Administrator.
If you prefer not to join the Committee, you can still support the pre-school by getting involved with fundraising activities.
We like to take the children on walks and outings in the local area. In order to do this, the support of parents is essential. Parents will be informed when this type of activity is planned, and will have the opportunity to volunteer to accompany us.
All children at Rising Fives have an electronic Learning Journal. This is completed by their Key Carer with contributions from all staff. It records photos and reports about the child’s activities at pre-school and monitors their progress and development.
Once the Learning Journals are up and running, parents can be given online access to their child’s journal so that they can view their child’s activities from home and leave feedback. We actively encourage parents to add information about what the child does when away from Rising Fives, as children achievements and interests can be very different at home and any information you can give us about your child’s interests and abilities is useful to us in extending their learning.
